| Updated: June 18, 2022 16:38

Agnipath, the new scheme for army recruitment introduced by the Central Government, is facing opposition across the country. However, the indignant and violent protests reached Jamnagar, Gujarat. On Saturday, thousands of students took to the Jamnagar streets to protest against the scheme.

Earlier, the students gathered near the Superintendent of Police’s office. The entire police convoy rushed to the spot of the protest and turned the area into a police camp. The cops came with water cannons to control the crowd and prevent vandalism.

During the Agnipath protests in Jamnagar, there were clashes between the police and students. According to the reports, the police carried a mild baton charge on the students. On the other hand, the cops detained some students.

Later, officials guaranteed the students to convey their concerns to the representatives and the higher authorities. Afterward, the students introduced themselves, showcased their issues, and left.

The Agnipath aggression has reached 13 states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Telangana, West Bengal, Odisha, and Delhi. More than 40 cities witnessed the protest storms. In Bihar, protestors blocked Railway tracks and burnt trains.
