Ahmedabad: AMC Approves 61 Of 75 Redevelopment Plans; 50 More Expected By This Year

| Updated: April 7, 2022 08:03

The renovation of twenty-five to fifty years old and dilapidated cities, apartments and small shopping centers under the re-development scheme, has been the growing trend in Ahmedabad in recent times.

Out of a total of 75 new construction plans submitted to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for approval, 61 plans have been approved to date. This has resulted in a gross income of Rs 35 Crore for the AMC. Apart from this, since the beginning of the current year 2022, six plans have been presented for re-development, which are under scrutiny at present.

The prime zone across the Sabarmati river including Navrangpura, Ambawadi, Vastrapur, Naranpura, Vadaj, Nawa Vadaj, and Chandkheda are the areas, wherein the re-development construction plans are majorly approved. The old tenements and small shopping centers in Maninagar, Kankaria, Khokhra and Mahemdabad are also approved in good numbers.

If this sequence of redevelopment construction plans continues, it is expected that at least 50 more plans for redevelopment will be submitted to the Municipal Town Planning Department of the city for approval this year.
