Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s convoy was going on a procession to Virai Mata Palli in Ghodasar on Saturday. He passed through Isanpur-Jashodanagar, the busiest area of the city with regard to trafic circulation. His convoy got stuck due to heavy traffic jams on this road.
According to information received, the convoy was stuck for about 15 minutes after a light commercial vehicle broke down at a traffic junction on the stretch blocking traffic. The CM’s convoy was a few meters away from the traffic junction. A team of traffic police rushed to remove the vehicle from the CM’s route.
DCP (Zone 6) M Munia said, “The Isanpur-Jashodanagar stretch is not very wide, so it took some time for the traffic police to clear the passage for the CM’s convoy.” JCP (traffic) Mayanksinh Chavda informed, “A private commercial vehicle broke down in front of the Chief Minister’s convoy and the traffic came to a standstill. Our men immediately cleared the way for the Chief Minister.”
Traffic jams are becoming a common thing in Ahmedabad. The civic body’s Smart City Control Room informed that 17 junctions of the city, mainly in the eastern parts, witnessed severe traffic jams between 7.30 pm and 10.30 pm during Navratri.
In December 2021, the traffic police in its coordination meeting flagged off 10 junctions in the city that experienced multiple episodes of traffic jams in a day. These junctions include Isanpur, Jashodanagar, Khodiarnagar, Thakkarbappanagar, Rabari Colony and Naroda Patia.
