The Gujarat Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS) arrested three men from a flat in the city’s Vastrapur neighbourhood on Monday for allegedly trafficking drugs and psychotropic substances for over a year through an e-commerce website.
To avoid getting discovered, the accused would ship the narcotics in boxes used by a major e-commerce company and communicate through VoIP and encrypted text messaging, he said.
According to the official, the accused obtained the narcotics from outside Gujarat and have distributed them in various parts of the state, including Surat and Vadodara.
The ATS received information that certain people from Amreli district were running a drugs ring out of a rented flat in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur neighbourhood.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, ATS, Harsh Upadhyay, an ATS team raided a flat in the Vastrapur area in the early hours of Monday and apprehended two people with 3.63 kg of drugs valued Rs 8.28 lakh.
