Dalpat Kataria (34), a homoeopathic doctor from Bhavnagar, received a Whatsapp message and a call from an unknown number in March 2021. After listening to the caller, a Kajal Patel from Ahmedabad’s Nikol area, he befriended her. Later, the girl called the doctor to a hotel in Surat. She mixed an intoxicating substance in the doctor’s drink and shot an obscene video of him.
Using the video, her gang, who was a part of the honeytrap gang, blackmailed the doctor and demanded two crore rupees. They threatened to leak the video on the internet if the doctor did not pay them money. Seeking help, the doctor reached the Police Station and registered a complaint against the girl and her gang. Based on this, the cops arrested them from Nikol, Ahmedabad.
The Bhavnagar Police has registered the criminals under Section 387, 328, 506(1), 120(B), and IT Act 66 (E) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In this regard, District DP Dr Ravindra Patel said, “Seeing the seriousness of the case, we have arrested the two main accused. They are Kajal Rajesh Vachania and Vijay Bhopa bhai Parmar. The cops are conducting an in-depth investigation of the case to find the number of people involved in the gang and people who have been victims at their hands.”
