Ahmedabad's Paldi Jalaram Mandir Underpass Opens, Easing Traffic Flow

Ahmedabad, Gujarat: The newly constructed Paldi Jalaram Mandir underpass officially opened for traffic today, following its inauguration by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Built by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at a cost of Rs. 83 crore, the underpass aims to significantly improve traffic flow in the city. It connects the busy Paldi Char Rasta area with the Gujarat College-Law Garden district.

The underpass serves a critical purpose, eliminating a previously existing level crossing and integrating seamlessly with the Botad-Ahmedabad railway line and the Metro rail line running above it. Notably, the Paldi Metro station is conveniently located adjacent to the underpass, featuring dedicated entry and exit points.

Spanning 450 meters and featuring two traffic lanes in each direction, the underpass is designed to significantly reduce traffic congestion in the area. This, in turn, is expected to enhance the overall commute experience for both motorists and Metro rail users.

The construction of the underpass involved unique techniques to address soil stability and prevent waterlogging, including micro-tunneling and soil nailing.

The opening of the Paldi Jalaram Mandir underpass marks a significant development in Ahmedabad’s infrastructure, promising smoother traffic flow and a more efficient transportation network for the city.
