Amdavadis, No Red Signals During Noon Hours In City As Traffic Police Announce No-Signal Trial Run

| Updated: May 7, 2022 17:33

In the view of high temperature in the city, the Ahmedabad Traffic Police have taken a decision to provide the citizens some relief during the hottest hours of the day – afternoon. The traffic police have announced to keep every traffic signal in the city closed between 1 pm to 5 pm.

However, starting on a two-days experimental basis, the drive will lead the citizens to avoid standing in the long traffic queues in the scorching heat. If the two-days trial succeeds then the traffic police will take the decision to further extend the drive. If the decision to close the traffic signals for four hours at noon does not create traffic issues and chaos then the traffic police department will extend the drive for more days, citing the high temperature in the city.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the heatwave condition is expected again on Saturday and Sunday after a two-day respite from record heat in the month of March and April.
