Amdavadis, Rain To Still Take Time To Reach City! Here Is Why

| Updated: June 21, 2022 08:07

Reaching around two days earlier than the scheduled date of the onset on June 13 in Gujarat, the southwest monsoon has set its foot in the Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions of the state. However, the citizens of Ahmedabad will still have to wait for the rain.

The southwest monsoon has now reached Vadodara but is taking time to progress toward Ahmedabad due to the absence of synoptic conditions, informed the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Gujarat Head, Manorama Mohanty.

She said, “the probability of such a situation forming in the next three days is also unlikely. Heavy rainfall is expected in coastal districts of Saurashtra and Valsad.”

So far, the rainfalls are reported in the coastal areas of Saurashtra and South Gujarat including Amreli, Bhavnagar, Junagadh and Porbandar. However, the major regions of the state are yet to receive heavy rainfall as the Saurashtra region recorded just around 1.45 inches while South Gujarat received around 1.44 inches of rainfall till Sunday, June 19.

Meanwhile, Umargam taluka in the Valsad district received 7.63 inches of rainfall, Valsad received 4.01 inches and Vapi recorded around 3.46 inches of rainfall. Along with this, the weather forecasting department has predicted heavy rainfall Navsari, Valsad and Dangs regions of the state for the next five days.
