| Updated: June 9, 2022 15:58

The AM/NS will supply 10,000 tonnes of steel slag for construction of a stretch of the Vadodara Mumbai Expressway, says an official release from the company.

In fact, the first delivery of 350 tonnes has already departed from Hazira on Wednesday.

Project director of Surat Express Way Tushar Vyas said that the processed slag shall be optimized to build main roads and service roads between Ena and Kim. They are hopeful that this project will end by April or May 2024. The project requires approximately 5 lakh cubic meters of processed steel slag as of now, and may attain more later as and when required.

What is Steel Slag?

Steel Slag is a better alternative to natural aggregates in construction regarding the benefits it offers. It is cost effective, has a higher load bearing capacity  and is also environmentally friendly besides other additional benefits over natural aggregates.

Executive Director Santosh Mundhada said that is a benchmark moment for them, as substitution of natural aggregate by steel slag will bring revolution in natural resource conservation.

AM/NS has proficiently demonstrated the use of steel slag by constructing India’s first road in Hazira using 100 percent steel slag. More than 1200 heavy vehicles depend on the road that was opened last year and is 1.2 km long.
