The Samajwadi Party finds itself in an embarrassing spot right ahead of UP assembly elections as SP’s patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav joins hands with the rival BJP.
Although there might not be a hidden ploy behind this move, it is being viewed to be a way to retaliate after many defectors from the BJP had joined the SO in the past few weeks.
Background:
Aparna Yadav belongs to a Thakur-Bisht background and is married to Mulayam and Sadhna Gupta’s son Prateek.
She has completed her schooling at City Montessori School in Lucknow and holds a master’s degree in Internation Relations and Politics.
Aparna is a trained classical singer and an animal lover along with being an aspiring politician. She runs an NGO – ‘B Aware’ which works for animal welfare. Moreover, she has also been working on issues related to women safety and crimes against women.
Intent to become a politician
Aparna’s husband had no plans to jump into politics, however, she made her objective clear on this front in 2017 when she contested the UP assembly elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket.
Aparna was provided with the Y category security cover by the Yogi Adityanath government. In addition, she had earlier garnered praises from PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath on various occasions.
Relations with family members
Aparna is known to share cordial relations especially with the females of the family. She has been spotted many times with Akhilesh’s wife Dimple Yadav who is an active member of the Samajwadi Party from the Kannauj constituency.
Reportedly, Aparna had always stated that she would do whatever ‘Neta Ji’ (Mulayam Singh Yadav) asks her to.
