Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), in its annual report for 2021-22, said that it received 398 online applications for approval of development plans for buildings with a maximum height of 15 metres. The urban planning agency approved 206 plans and canceled 180 applications. In the same period, it received 148 applications in person for approval of development plans, of which it has approved 103. The authority is still analyzing 29 applications.
Interestingly, AUDA of the canceled applications, not a single one was made in person. It is seen that canceled applications were all made online. According to sources, AUDA’s online software, E-Nagar, automatically cancels applications for the smallest of mistakes. The applicant has to spend more than two days to fill up the details and submit the applications. However, any error will result in the cancellation of the application. There is no notification or alert for mistakes and once submitted, the applicant cannot go back and modify any information.
According to sources, AUDA takes two to three months to approve or cancel an application. The government has claimed that it wants to clear applications within 24 hours of submission, but this does not seem to be the case yet. This is why, if an application is canceled because of a small error, the applicant has to go through the entire process all over again.
