Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the 1971 Indo-Pak war – also known as the Bangladesh Liberation War. And today, in order to celebrate the golden jubilee, a delegation from Bangladesh comprising Mukti Jodhas (Bangladeshi freedom fighters) & serving Bangladesh Armed Forces personnel are visiting India.
They have embarked on this journey to take participate in the events part of the “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” celebrations organised to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
The Bangladesh delegation that will be attending the “Swarnim Vijay Varsh Special” has boarded a Train from Safdarjung railway station at New Delhi to Agra today. The train was flagged off jointly by Lieutenant General AK Singh, Director General of Operational Logistics & Strategic Movements and Mr Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager, Northern Railways.
As a part of their visit to India, the delegation will be visiting the Taj Mahal and Ajmer Sharif Dargah as a declaration of the participation and solid bonds between the two countries. The Mukti Jodhas coming to India at a time when the country is cherishing the memories of the 1971 war, speaks of the acknowledgement of Bangladesh to the contributions and sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces.
