Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is determined that education must be imparted to every child under the scheme “Bhiksha Nahi Shiksha” which was launched to ensure that poor children begging at traffic signals also get the same right to education as others.
For the delivery of the aforesaid purpose, the state government has decided to start signal school wherever required in the state.Patel has overseen that Gujarat signal students are enrolled at Pandit Deendayal Auditorium in Ahmedabad under Shala Praveshotsav.
The government has tried its best to ascertain that education is provided to all, not merely children begging at the cross roads or signals, but the children belonging to the nomadic caste and the Agaria community as well. Provisions have been made for 40 schools on wheels in Agaria and School and hostel facilities in housings of Nomadic people have also been looked out for. A joint venture of Gujarat State Legal Authorities and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Municipal School Board upgraded the school facilities.
The CM further shared that the overall success rate of the Shala Praveshotsav can be measured from the dropout rate, which has dropped from 37.22% to 3.39% in the last 20 years. There has been a great turnover in just 2 days, with 3.83 lakh students getting enrolled in Standard 1 and more than 1.88 lakh girls getting admission to schools. Meanwhile, 78,000 children have got admission in Anganwadi. This project called the Signal School project was undertaken last year by the Gujarat High Court and AMC, with the objective of imparting quality education to the beggar children of the streets of Ahmedabad. The plan consists of two steps, with children first being taught the bridge course and then being enrolled to the nearest school.
