Big Projects Fueling Gujarat’s Future

| Updated: January 5, 2024 13:26

Important Mega Projects of Gujarat

  • Gujarat Hybrid Renewable Energy Park with Rs 1.5 lakh cr investment
  • Bullet train is a 508 km rail project with high speed worth Rs 2 lakh cr.
  • Dholera Solar Park is biggest solar project with 5,000 MW capacity

Officials said that Gujarat’s growth has been driven by big projects such as Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, Dholera Solar Park and the Hybrid Renewable Energy Park in Kutch, which reflect the State’s bold vision for the future. The 10th Gujarat Vibrant Global Summit, which will take place in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12, will further enhance its efforts to attract development projects and investments.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train is a 508 km rail project with high speed worth Rs 2 lakh crore that covers Maharashtra, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli Union Territory and is expected to be completed by August 2026, according to officials. The bullet train will reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad from five hours to two hours and seven minutes, with 12 stations along the route, including Thane in Maharashtra and Surat in Gujarat. “This is the dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If people in other countries can travel by bullet train, then why can’t India? Today, we can proudly say that our Gujarat has a Metro train, bullet train and some very fast moving trains, like Vande Bharat,” said state government spokesperson and cabinet minister Rushikesh Patel.

The train is expected to run at a speed of 320 km/hr and carry 17,900 passengers daily in each direction. The high speed train will have three classes – standard, business and grand, with operational plans featuring a 2-hour 58-minute high-speed journey and a quick 2-hour 7-minute option.

Despite the challenges, 429.53 hectares of land have been acquired for the project till June 2023. The project will not only benefit the travel sector, but also boost industries like cement and steel, said a state government release.
