As the lines for the triangular battle involving the BJP, Congress and AAP are drawn for the Gujarat Assembly Elections, the parties have been announcing their candidates. The BJP named its candidates today, and interestingly the party hasn’t allotted a ticket to MLA Madhu Srivastava from Vaghodiya in Vadodara district.
“If I contest the elections, I will do so as an independent candidate. I will not join any other party. I belong to the BJP and will be with it,” Srivastav said, adding that he would respect any decision which will be taken by the party’s workers in two days.
Earlier, he said he would contest the elections for his wife in the Vaghodiya assembly seat of the Kapai Gaya, Vadodara district, before retracting his statement.
Known as the Bahubali leader for his fiery personality, Srivastav joined the BJP after a stint as an independent candidate in 1995. Given that he emerged victorious for six consecutive terms, it’s surprising the BJP ignored him this time. It’s held that the voters of the Vaghodiya constituency desire a new face.
