Bouncers hired to deny entry in society to Nirma University female students

| Updated: October 3, 2021 12:34

Renting an apartment is already a task for bachelors and spinsters in the city as most societies want owners to lease out homes only to a family or a married couple. However, the residents of Ratna Paradise society near Vaishnodevi, Ahmedabad took the matter to whole another level.

The residents of the society on September 1, allegedly hired bouncers to deny entry to the female students of Nirma University who were staying in the society. Moreover, the security guards were also instructed to take pictures of the girls on their mobile phones. The owner, Yogesh Patel stated that the doors of the society were shut for more than two hours and the girls were forced to wait outside in heavy showers. They were crying as they had nowhere to go.

Patel stated that he had bought a flat for his family and another one with an intention to lease out to female students of Nirma University. He also stated that the society members had planned to attack him with hoodlums from outside the society.

Patel filed an application about the possibility of an attack on him however the ASI refused to accept it. He claimed that Adalaj police officials called him on August 30 and ASI Nanavati told him that there were three to four complaints against him.

He further alleged that he was forced to sign a letter as part of a compromise to withdraw the applications. He was also given a month to shift the girl students from his premises failing which, they said they would do it themselves.

The father of one of the girls living in the flat expressed concern stating that his daughter was studying architecture and does not have time to do anything but study. He further said that hiring bouncers to keep the girls out of their flat was not done and that it was a serious problem for girls if they cannot even live in a secure society.
