The Gujarat High Court has granted temporary relief to Aam Aadmi Party MLA Chaitar Vasava, allowing him three-day release, to attend monsoon session of the State Assembly beginning Monday.
On Thursday, Justice M. R. Mengdey gave a ruling in favour of Vasava. Mengdey ruled that he (Vasava) is duty-bound to attend the Assembly Session.
The Dediapada MLA has been behind the bars for nearly two months. He was arrested on July 5 in an alleged case of attempt to murder lodged by Dediapada taluka BJP president Sanjay Vasava, after a physical brawl during a meeting at the Dediapada Prant office.
Earlier on Monday, Narmada Sessions Court had granted him an interim bail to attend the session. However, that was to be under police escort and Vasava had to pay expenses of the police escort in Gandhinagar for three days.
Vasava had appealed in the High Court seeking modification of the order.
The MLA will attend the three-day session without police escort and will return to Vadodara Central Jail after completion of the Session.
