A 16-year-old girl in Rajkot, Gujarat, was allegedly assaulted by a 20-year-old man she met online, according to a complaint filed by her mother. The accused, identified as Vishal Gohil, has been arrested by the police.
The girl, a Class 10 student, reportedly interacted with Gohil on Instagram for a few days before the incident. On Wednesday afternoon, she informed her mother she was going to a nearby shop but remained missing for several hours. Her phone was also switched off, causing her family to search frantically.
Upon returning home with visible injuries, the girl confided in her mother about the horrifying ordeal. According to the police complaint, Gohil had lured her near the Raiya telephone exchange and forced her onto his bike. He then took her to a secluded lane where he allegedly assaulted her.
When the girl resisted, Gohil reportedly threatened to harm her mother if she did not comply with his demands for a relationship. The police acted swiftly based on the complaint and apprehended Gohil.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we are committed to ensuring the victim’s safety and well-being,” stated a police spokesperson. “We urge caution when interacting with strangers online, especially minors.”
