Disciplinary Committee Of Congress Party Reorganised

| Updated: November 19, 2021 11:28

The Congress party in a circular, signed by general secretary organisation KC Venugopal, has announced the appointments in it’s revamped Disciplinary Committee with immediate effect.

The Grand old Party, weakened by successive electoral failures is facing serious issues related to discipline and in-house rebellions. With organisational polls round the corner, party has felt the need to correct it’s image of a undisciplined bunch of all leaders and no followers.

In the new Disciplinary Committee, veteran congressman AK Antony will continue to head the panel and Sonia Gandhi’s trusted aide Ambika Soni, Senior leader Tariq Anwar, former Delhi PCC Chief JP Agarwal and former Karnataka PCC chief G Parameswar are its other members.

G Parameswar’s inclusion is seen as a balancing act in the Karnataka state politics tightly in control of DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah. Ambika Soni remains one of the most trusted Congressperson close to the High Command. Tariq Anwar has a reputation of a serious politician who had been to NCP for a sometime.

The committee handles all issues related to discipline and recommends action to the Congress president. Congress has such state-level panels, Central disciplinary panel handles cases at the AICC (All India Congress Committee) level.
