A team comprising representatives of the Department of Telecommunications and two private mobile service providers visited Ajol village in Mansa taluka of Gandhinagar district to measure the speed during First 5G Rural Broadband Trial. Officials have recorded 105.47 Mbps download speed and 58.77 Mbps upload speed.

The technology being tested includes 360-degree virtual reality content playback, a virtual-reality connected classroom where students feel the proximity of the teacher, senior department of telecommunications officials said. The other area being tested is 5G immersive gaming and Assisted Artificial Intelligence . It is being tested with a 360 degree camera real-time video stream.

The Department of Telecommunications is also planning to test another potential use of 5G technology, a plan that would give end users a 360-degree experience. The Gujarat DoT LSA team on Thursday included technical teams including Ajatshatru Somani, Roshan Lal Meena, Director Sumit Mishra and Vikas Dadhich.

Vodafone Idea Limited and Nokia visited 5G test sites in Gandhinagar. On November 19, a team from the Department of Telecommunications checked the speed at the Mahatma Mandir 5G site in Gandhinagar city, which was found to be about 1.5 Gbps, which was almost 100 times faster than 4G. The speed test was performed on non-standalone 5G mode.
