The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Gujarat police impounded a drugs module from a Mumbai couple. SOG caught the duo in their luxury car with contraband, cash, and many mobile phones.
Lately, the SOG has kept a close eye on the narcotics activity in the city. They receive leads of probable drug delivery using technical inputs and informer networks. On June 27, they obtained a queue on a couple smuggling cocaine via road in a premium sedan to dodge detection.
According to the sources, the couple, Ibrahim Hussain Odia and Tanvir Ibrahim Hussain Odia are residents of the Mumbai Bismillah heights and peddle drugs in Mumbai. They also have links with the underground circles of Surat.
The initial search revealed that they were carrying 39 grams of cocaine, five smartphones, and ₹2.12 lakhs in cash. Moreover, the couple used a luxurious car to peddle drugs. The police suspect that they acquired the money at different drop points on their way.
The cops also suspect that the couple has customers midway or in the connecting cities. However, interrogation revealed that they supply Mephedrone, also known as MDMA, to the criminals in Surat. However, the profit margin for selling party drugs was less. Thus, they shifted to cocaine with better profit margins. The police have registered a case against the couple under the appropriate Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.
