Surat’s list of drug peddlers adds few more names. This time it’s a couple who were arrested from Adajan in Surat for selling over 300 tablets of high-quality hybrid cannabis, marijuana, LSD and other narcotic tablets.
Teams from the Special Operations Group (SOG), Surat and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Delhi, raided the couple’s house on a tip-off they had received. They have been dealing in drugs under the guise of a restaurant they owned.
Krunal and Dikshita Golwala, who live in luxurious apartments Nakshatra on LP Savani Road, Adajan, Surat, also ran a restaurant and burger shop in the area. Under the guise of owning and running a successful eatery joint in their area, the couple dealt in drugs in a manner that no one could suspect. The Delhi NCB had been keeping a watch on both for more than a month for the raid. Police teams often went in disguise to take drugs, but the smart couple did not give drugs without anyone’s reference. They would direct them to buy drugs online from Dark Web when a stranger approached them to buy drugs.
Agencies, including the NCB, are on a high alert to eradicate the drug network from Gujarat. On the other hand, drug mafias are also carrying out their schemes through the new modus operandi. The drug mafia carries out online trades and as per NCB, the online drug racket is operating through the Dark Web.
The team was constantly carrying out technical surveillance on Krunal and Dikshita through the Dark Web. That is how they received a tip-off that Krunal orders drugs from Delhi through the Dark Web and then sells them to the customers in Surat.
The NCB team from Delhi had camped in Surat after the involvement of this couple came to light in drug dealing. Later, the SOG team of Surat city raided Nakshatra apartments.
During the search operations carried out in the luxurious apartment, of the Golwalas the teams found 2 kg of high-quality hybrid marijuana, 100 grams of cannabis and more than 300 narcotic tablets. They also seized another quantity of drugs including LSD. The couple has been arrested and the NCB has obtained transit remand. They are now taken to Delhi for further questioning and investigations.
