Gujarat again witnessed a surge in the number of cases, with a total increase of 165 cases out of which 90 were from Ahmedabad. 90 is the highest number recorded in the city, since February. Adding the new 90 cases recorded in Ahmedabad, the city now has a total of 500 active cases out of the overall 920 active cases across the state.
Ahmedabad is not the only one to experience this spike, as Vadodara, Surat, Gandhinagar, and Bhavnagar too are seeing a slight increase in daily cases. The four cities combined accounted for a total of 47 new cases, with Vadodara having 19 cases.
Meanwhile, Gujarat has seen a poor coverage of the vaccine dose among its population with only 36 lakh-odd doses of the booster being administered among the state’s population so far. The numbers for the first and second doses were both above 5 crores.
