Covid Guidelines Given A Go-By At Yet Another Political Event in Gujarat

| Updated: January 6, 2022 21:12

As has become common in Gujarat, yet another political meeting to felicitate newly elected heads of 77 villages on Thursday saw huge crowds thronging the venue, giving a go-by to social distancing and masks.

Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil was to be the chief guest but he could not attend the event as his helicopter could not fly due to bad weather.

The felicitation function was held at the Gondal Marketing Yard in Rajkot district.

The biggest challenge for the Gujarat Government amid rising Covid-19 numbers and new variant omicron is not to allow public functions that can very well become super-spreader events. And such events, often organised by the State Government, have been quite common.

Minister of State Arvind Raiyani, Rajkot BJP president Mansukhbhai Khachariya and former MLAs Jayrajsinh Jadeja and Mahendrasinh Sarvaiya were among the prominent regional leaders present. All the dignitaries were part of the large bike rally to felicitate newly elected heads of the villages.

State Minister Arvind Raiyani addressed the large gathering and assured them that we will work for the betterment of people and no work of public importance will be left undone. We will work as a bridge between Gandhinagar and Gondal.
