India has attributed its military might which was on display during Operation Sindoor to cutting-edge indigenous technologies. The coordinated assault against Pakistan was done utilising long-range drones and precision-guided munitions. India demonstrated not only operational efficiency but also technological supremacy. It was a testament to India’s growing self-reliance in high-end defence capabilities.
Lt Gen Sumer Ivan D’Cunha, Director General of Army Air Defence, disclosed that all weaponised drones—each programmed to inflict damage on civilian population centres—were successfully neutralised through seamless coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
India’s operation was triggered by a brutal terrorist assault in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 innocent lives were lost at the hands of Pakistan-based militants. India’s retaliation was swift and unrelenting—targeted precision strikes were carried out against multiple terror camps within Pakistan.
Pakistan retaliated with a massive drone assault, launching between 800 and 1000 unmanned aerial vehicles across the western border within a span of four days.
The General emphasised that none of the Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) carrying payloads inflicted any harm. He remarked that while these drones were evidently aimed at civilian targets, the Indian forces ensured total interception.
“One thing for sure is that all the Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles [UCAV] which carried a payload, although they intended to harm our civilian population and they were directed towards population centres, we ensured that they did not cause any damage, and I think the proof of the pudding is actually in what we actually saw, that there were no civilian casualties,” the officer was quoted as saying.
He considered the absence of civilian casualties as undeniable proof of the operation’s defensive success.
The Indian offensive did not stop at terror infrastructure alone. Several Pakistani military air bases, especially those near the border, were hit with surgical precision. Notably, the Defence Minister asserted that the impact of these strikes resonated far beyond the immediate conflict zone, reaching deep into the heart of Rawalpindi—the heart of the Pakistan army’s general headquarters.
