On the eve of India’s 75th Independence day, a Dalit boy is thrashed to death by his upper caste teacher in Congress-ruled Rajashthan’s Jalore. 75th Independence day celebrations have been termed the “Amrit Kal” celebrations by BJP Government at the Center.
The incident took place at a private school in Surana village of Rajasthan’s Jalore district on July 20, where the teacher allegedly beat up the minor for touching the pot of water in the school. The boy was admitted to the district hospital initially but was brought to a hospital in Ahmedabad as his condition worsened ultimately leading to his death on August 13.
The family members of the nine-year-old boy have alleged that he was beaten mercilessly by the teacher at school for touching a drinking pot that was meant for upper caste people. The boy’s uncle registered n FIR on August 13. A case has been registered against the accused teacher for murder and under sections of the SC/ST Act.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the incident and the State government announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for kin of the deceased. Rahul Gandhi also tweeted and condemned the incident and said that the accused be strictly punished.
