The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime and Customs Department have cracked down on an international racket involved in drug trafficking in India.
According to a report, this racket was masterminded in Canada. Those involved in the racket have been supplying drugs using social media. The report added that customs officials seized drugs worth roughly Rs 50 lakh at Ahmedabad Airport.
The traffickers used a devious method to deliver drugs, hiding them in toys and pages of books.
Pages of the books were dipped in drugs. The Cyber Unit and Customs Department have confiscated a substantial number of such books and toys.
Following the delivery of the book, the pages were squeezed to manufacture drugs.
Cocaine weighing 2.31 grams worth Rs 2,31,000 in the domestic market and international cannabis weighing 5.970 kg worth Rs 46,08,015 in the international market was seized.
Many other drug peddlers and their customers have been identified.
Three years ago, reports emerged about a Canadian drug trafficking network extending to the US and India. Prohibited substances were being brought into Canada from California and India.
Going by the recent development, the drug mafia continues to be active in a big way.
