Elderly Man in Rajkot Assaulted Over Stray Dog Dispute

| Updated: April 13, 2024 16:30

A 57-year-old man was physically assaulted by his son and daughter-in-law over a dispute involving a stray dog. The victim, Lalji Chavda, a resident of Ambedkarnagar, had to receive four stitches on his head following the altercation.

Chavda lodged a complaint at the Thorala police station against his son, Ajay and daughter-in-law, Deval. According to the complaint, Deval had taken a liking to the stray dog, which frequently visited their house. On Thursday night, Chavda returned home to find the dog on his bed. When he tried to shoo it away, it sparked a heated argument with Ajay and Deval.

The situation escalated when Deval allegedly began to physically assault Chavda, punching and kicking him. Ajay is accused of striking his father on the head with kitchen tongs. Despite Chavda bleeding profusely from the head, the couple reportedly did not take any action.

The ambulance was eventually called by concerned neighbors, who rushed Chavda to the civil hospital. There, he received medical attention and had four stitches applied to his head. The police are currently investigating the incident based on Chavda’s complaint.
