Fitness Coach Ankita Konwar Talks of Battling Depression

| Updated: December 22, 2021 17:06

No longer is depression a taboo subject. While hardliners accuse celebs of making it a fashion statement aka “depression is inversely proportional to your standing in the rat race,” some say India is coming out of being a promiscuous society. The recent name to have hinted at the blues taking over is fitness and yoga coach Ankita Konwar.

In a picture posted on Wednesday, the young Ankita appeared smiling. It was, however, her cryptic post, that caught attention. “The storm in my head but a calm smile on face. Yes, I do go through a number of days when everything is not fine. Not everyone who looks fine is actually fine.”

Look at what you have achieved in spite of all the obstacles. If you’re having one of those dark days, I’m just here to remind you that your resilience is far stronger than the storm inside your head. Love to all of you.- Ankita Konwar

She emphasised that dealing with depression and anxiousness and getting out of it are crucial to a healthy life. However, one must be aware when it sinks in.

“Things can seem overwhelming and meaningless at the same time. But I don’t get scared like I used to. After a long period of anxiety and depression and getting out of it with all the courage I had, I still face tiny episodes of dark patches. Way milder, way shorter and way better than the all-consuming days I lived through,” penned the fitness buff, who is married to Milind Soman.

She also compiled a hands-on listicle to help battle depression. Among her best bets are “seeking professional help, physical and mental exercise, journaling, cutting down on caffeine, reducing alcohol intake, avoiding substance abuse and engaging with friends and family.”
