Five Men From Punjab Allegedly Dupe Gujarat Tour Operator Of Rs 1 Cr

| Updated: February 2, 2023 13:12

Gujarat police have received a complaint from a 59-year-old tour operator and visa consultant based in Kudasan, who alleges that a Punjab-based tour agent and four of his assistants defrauded him of Rs 1 crore.

The complainant, Ramesh Chaudhary, was approached by a tour guide, Govind Patel, who introduced him to the accused, Jas Bajwa from Patiala.

Bajwa was hired by Chaudhary and Patel to send their clients to the US on January 26. On January 27, Bajwa, along with his aides, arrived in Delhi to meet with Chaudhary and Patel. The next day, two of Bajwa’s aides arrived at a hotel in Sargasan, Gandhinagar and allegedly gave Chaudhary food laced with sedatives.

In the early hours of January 29, Chaudhary’s assistant Jaymin Patel woke him up and informed him that the suspects and two additional men had fled with the money.

The Infocity police are investigating the matter and have yet to make any arrests. The incident highlights the need for caution when dealing with individuals and businesses from unknown origins.
