| Updated: January 17, 2024 15:40

A horrific incident of rape of a five-year-old girl has shaken the city of Ahmedabad. The police said that the girl was sexually assaulted near a construction site in the Bhadaj area on Wednesday. The crime came to light when the girl returned home bleeding and in pain.

The police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the rapist. They are questioning the labourers working at the construction site and examining the CCTV footage to identify the culprit. They have also assured the public that they will spare no effort to arrest the offender and provide all the necessary assistance to the victim and her family.

The girl, who had lost her parents a year ago, was living with her grandmother, who worked as a labourer at the construction site. On January 15, the girl was playing near the site while her grandmother was busy with her work. She went missing for a short while, during which she was brutally raped by the unknown assailant.

When she came back, her grandmother noticed her bleeding and rushed her to the Sola Civil Hospital, where the doctors confirmed the sexual assault. The girl is undergoing treatment and is in a stable condition. The police are investigating the case and hope to nab the rapist soon.
