Gandhinagar police have arrested the accused who murdered a temporary peon working with the state home department. Kiranji Makwana was killed by gunshots while going on his bicycle by two men on a bike.
Understanding the importance of the crime, in the poll-bound state with opposition, especially AAP making allegations about misgovernance, and the fact that the crime was committed in the state capital, the police was quick in pursuit of the culprits.
It has now come to light that the main accused in this crime, Jitendra Patel, was having a love affair with the wife of the deceased Kiranji Makwana, a resident of Indroda village.
According to the police, the criminals escaped after the incident. However, the bike slipped and the main culprit Jitendra Patel got injured. Jitendra Patel, living on Gozaria Charadu road was having an affair with Kiranji’s wife Pramila. Jitendra Patel is married too.
Gandhinagar Range IG Abhay Chudasama briefed reporters about the investigation into the incident. He said the two people who killed Kiranji Makwana had come to Indroda via Pethapur. They had performed recce earlier. The bike onwhich the shooters were driving away slipped and Jitendra Patel was injured. Abhay Chudasama informed that police conducted a thorough intelligence using technical surveillance, Investigation by SOG/LCB teams, apart from CCTV and human intelligence.
The other accused Jaimin Rawal had helped Jitendra Patel as a friend in executing the crime by riding the bike. The gunshot was fired by Jitendra Patel.
The police have recovered the weapon, a country pistol, from the spot. It is said that it was sourced from Rajasthan. Other details, including the role of the wife of the deceased, are expected to come up after inquiry.
