While Gujarat government has recently been rightfully active in trying to ensure that all private hospitals are equipped with fire safety and have BU permission, it has come to notice that the same norms are not being complied with right under it’s nose. When pointed out, instead of looking for immediate rectificatio, the authorities are found blaming each other.
Located on the premises of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital the hostels and the staff quarters of BJ Medical College are lacking with the fire safety systems and required NOCs.. At least the buildings of the nursing institute, PG Hostel 1-2 and C-Block do not possess fire NOCs. Students in these hostels have been protesting about poor living conditions at the hostels
Strangely, BJ Medical College Dean And Civil Hospital Superintendent, both are maintaining that the responsibility lies with the other. The representations of Student Association about the issue has remained unattended.
Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital maintains that PG hostel and doctors’ hostel are the responsibility of the dean, whereas they are responsible for the fire safety system in the staff quarters.
Irony of this Govt.
