The Infosys founder has honoured Professor Jaswant G Krishnayya, his mentor and IIM Ahmedabad’s founding faculty, by instituting a 20-year merit scholarship to nurture future leaders at his alma mater.
At a function organised at the Ravi J Mathai Auditorium, the first ‘Professor Jaswant G. Krishnayya Merit Scholarship’ was awarded to Viraj Modi, a first-year Post Graduate Programme (PGP) student from the Class of 2024–2026.
He achieved the highest CGPA in his batch, according to reports. “It (scholarship) motivates me to pursue my goals with greater conviction and to uphold the values of integrity, impact, and academic excellence that this recognition stands for,” Viraj Modi said.
“This scholarship honours a teacher whose guidance shaped my values and career. I hope it inspires others to do the same,” Murthy, who was once mentored by Professor Krishnayya, said.
The scholarship will be awarded every year to a second-year student in IIMA’s flagship PGP programme, covering tuition, hostel, mess charges and course material. Murthy will fund it for 20 years to support academic excellence and nurture values of integrity and humility.
