Gujarat: 2948 Lives Lost Due To Heart Attack In 2021, 14 % More Than Previous Year

While the national average of deaths due to heart attack has decreased slightly, Gujarat registers an increase.2948 persons died on account of heart attacks in 2021 as per the recently released NCRB report.

Out of 2948 persons who died of a heart attack in Gujarat last year, 2611 were males and 337 were females. This means, that 7 men and one woman died every day on average during the last year in Gujarat due to heart attacks.

However, the situation is grimmer on its front in Maharashtra and Kerala, where 10489 and 3872 persons died in 2021 due to heart attacks

The age group most affected by heart attacks is 20-40. There is an increase of 20% in the cases in this age group. The age group 20-30 also registers an increase of 10% over the previous year.

Fast food, inadequate sleep, alcohol consumption, stress, smoking and an unhealthy lifestyle are the factors responsible for heart-related deceases.

Patients with cardiovascular disease are more prone to suffer the attack in the early morning. Also, it is revealed that contrary to popular belief of more heart attacks occurring in winter, it is during monsoon that most heart attack calls are received. Out of 42555 calls received by 108 service in 2021, 4334 were received in September whereas 4195 were received in December.
