The state GST department (SGST department) gets leads on bogus billing or tax evasion through system-based data analysis. So, based on this lead, the SGST department has conducted a state-wide search operation to stop bogus billing and tax evasion.
In this operation, the SGST department inspected 205 locations of 115 firms. 41 bogus firms have been caught so far. This includes 14 generations of Ahmedabad, 12 of Vadodara, 9 of Surat, 3 of Bhavnagar, 1 of Rajkot, and 2 of Gandhidham.
The 41 fictitious companies listed above have a combined annual revenue of Rs 465 crore. These firms have issued bills for commodities like scrap, ferrous and non-ferrous metal, chemicals, sand, etc. for the purpose of passing on false taxes amounting to Rs. 85 crores in tax evasion, which has been reported. Regarding this, the verification work of the SGST department is currently going on. Along with this, a search has been conducted for the individuals involved in this tax evasion.
