Botad: According to authorities, a man raped and robbed a 75-year-old woman here on the pretence of assisting her in receiving a widow pension. The man, Hasmukh Devipujak, allegedly brought the senior person to a lonely location, raped her, and then left with her jewellery, according to the police. Botad arrested the accused within 24 hours.
“On Wednesday afternoon, the accused approached the victim,” stated Police Inspector J.V. Chaudhary. He asked her for her phone number and promised to assist her in completing the widow pension application. He vowed he’d contact her again.
“An hour later, the accused picked up victim from her home and drove her to a deserted area outside the Botad Collector’s office.” He grabbed her jewellery first, then raped her.” He threatened the victim, threatening to kill her and destroy her family if she told anybody about the incident. According to the victim’s allegation, the offender paid her Rs 100 to return home and then departed.
She told the cops she had never seen the defendant before and didn’t recognise him by name. She also couldn’t recall the bike’s registration number or colour, and she estimated his age to be approximately 30, according to the police. The only thing the cops discovered was his phone number, which he had used to call the victim.
The number was put under monitoring by the police department, and Devipujak was detained on Friday morning after only 24 hours on Thursday late evening. After then, the accused was taken to the hospital for a medical checkup.
