The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat apprehended a Talati-Mantri of Bhandut Gram Panchayat in Olpad taluka, in connection with a bribery case involving a sum of Rs. 4,000.
The case revolves around a complainant who owns land in Bhandut Village, Olpad. The accused, Hitendrakumar Parmar, who serves as a Talati-Mantri (Class 3), demanded a bribe of Rs. 11,000 from the complainant. This was in exchange for transferring the name on the property tax bill of the house situated on the complainant’s land. After negotiations, the bribe amount was eventually reduced to Rs. 4,000.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant reached out to the ACB. In a strategic move, the ACB set up a trap to catch the accused in the act. Parmar was subsequently caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs. 4,000.
Following his arrest, Parmar has been detained by the ACB, and further action is underway.
