Gujarat Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS) busted another narcotics racket in Gandhinagar. The officials have seized a unique substance, cannabis-infused cookies, from a restaurant in Bhat village in the district. During the raid, the officers also found 16 units of pure extracts of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). In all, the illegal substances are valued at around Rs41,000.
The restaurant, Chicken Chulha, is owned by Jaykishan Thakor, 28, who is an arts graduate. It is believed that Thakor’s friend Ankit Kulhari, 26, was also involved in the business. The cops have arrested both of these young men, who are residents of Ahmedabad.
Further investigation revealed that the cookies were made by using cannabis oil, instead of regular butter. They were promoted as a specialty from Himachal Pradesh and charged customers somewhere between Rs4,000 to Rs20,000 for them. According to sources, these cookies looked exactly like regular ones and hence were disguised cleverly.
Upon questioning the duo, the police found out that Thakor used to buy cannabis and its oil from Himachal Pradesh and Kulhari would deliver them to the customers. The two men said that this was their first attempt. The men have been handed over to the special operations group of Gandhinagar and booked in Adalaj under the narcotics development and psychotropic substances act.
Earlier this month, Vastrapur police in Ahmedabad busted a huge drug racket, which allegedly involved 300 high-profile people and their children. Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) operation uncovered some very shocking details. The investigations have revealed that a few persons got together and created an e-commerce company about eighteen months back, through which they were selling and delivering drugs throughout the state.
