Gujarat: BJP Chief Nadda Inaugurates BJP Mayors’ Conclave

The national chief of BJP, J P Nadda inaugurated BJP Mayors’ Conclave in Gandhinagar in the presence of State BJP Chief C R Patil and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Mayors of all BJP-ruled cities in the nation are called to the capital city of Gujarat by the BJP. Gujarat, ruled by BJP, incidentally is going to polls in the coming months.

The good works of mayors and deputy mayors will be highlighted in the conclave. The stated objective of the conclave by the BJP is to discuss the development in states and to find out the ways in which way better work can be done in the area of urban development.

Prime Minister Modi, virtually addressing the conclave reiterated his mantra of development to the mayors. He said development is the key. He explained that urban development is taking citizens along and making value addition to their lifestyles. He pointed out that improvements in electricity, creating awareness about sanitation, saving water, and paying taxes on time can ameliorate the standard of living in a city.

Another aspect PM Modi specifically addressed was the cost of running the city administration. The remarks may be seen in the context of raging “revdi culture” debate. PM said, there are many expenses for the development of the city. The citizens are aware of the expenses incurred for the development, Narendra Modi said

Modi remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in this program and said Sardar became the mayor of Ahmedabad. and later joined India’s independence struggle. Addressing the mayors, Narendra Modi said that BJP mayors should be the best in the lot and distinguish themselves from others. He asked the mayors present at the convention to excel in their work so that the next generation remembers them for their work.

India today is investing heavily in urban infrastructure in the 75th year of independence. As of 2014, the metro network in our country was less than 250 km, today the metro network in the country is 775 km. Work is going on metro routes of one thousand kms. So far, projects worth more than 75 thousand crore rupees have been completed in the country, Narendra Modi said.

Many poor people of Gujarat have been provided houses and laws like RERA have been made to protect the interests of the people. Modi told the mayors about the importance of the development of the nation along with the development of Gujarat.

In this program, Prime Minister Modi guided the BJP-ruled mayors and deputy mayors and said that this type of convention will play an important role in creating the road map of India’s urban development for the next 25 years.
