For the first time in the history of Gujarat, a charge sheet in a gang-rape case has been filed by Bhavnagar police within 24 hours. While on patrol, the Alang police of the district nabbed three people in a car from Trapaj-Alang road in the city and took legal action against them.
The accused has been sent to court custody after filing a charge sheet within an hour. Despite the Saturday-Sunday holiday, the gang rape case was also coordinated by all the departments and a charge sheet was filed against the accused within 24 hours.
According to the information given to Bhavnagar city ASP Safin Hasan about the whole incident, on Friday evening, Sanjay Chhagan Makwana and Mansukh Bodha Solanki abducted a girl from the Kaliabid area of the city in an Eco car and went to Trapaj village of Talaja taluka. Mustafa Sheikh of Trapaj village helped and the car was parked on Alang-Trapaj road and the girl was raped by three of them at the same time. Alang police, who were on patrol during the gang-rape case, searched the car which looked suspicious and found out the whole fact from the girl and interrogated these three people. The police took them and the car into custody and brought them to the police station. After informing the Bhavnagar police about the whole incident, the crime was registered and further investigation was carried out.
Considering the seriousness of the crime, immediate action was taken by the police, including the girl’s medical examination, in coordination with all the concerned departments of the government, the charge sheet was filed against the accused in just 24 hours and the accused were sent to court custody. This can be considered as the first police operation in Bhavnagar in a gang rape case.
