Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed acting chief secretary Sunaina Tomar to swiftly evaluate the impact of Monday evening’s rain and wind throughout the state.
Tomar organised a video conference with the collectors from the affected districts, gathering essential details about the rainfall, wind, and lightning situations within their areas. She also instructed district officials to stay vigilant and make necessary preparations based on the forecasts from the Meteorological Department.
Relief commissioner Alok Pandey indicated that rainfall varied between 2 mm and 38 mm across 41 talukas in the state. Besides the rainfall, wind speeds surged, leading to two fatalities in the state from lightning strikes. Power has been reinstated in 249 villages impacted by the wind.
The chief minister has also directed Tomar to maintain uninterrupted operation of the State Emergency Operation Centre and District Control Rooms to prevent casualties and reduce property damage.
