| Updated: February 23, 2022 10:38

Gujarat Congress on Tuesday alleged that Former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani worked hand in glove with Sahara Group’s Sahara India Home Corporation as he influenced Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) to change the zoning of land from residential to industrial to benefit the Sahara Group.

Chief whip of Congress party in Gujarat C.J.Chavda held a press conference citing an RTI alleged that nexus between former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, government officials and RUDA resulted in a corruption of RS 500 crore. He further alleged that 5 lakh square feet of land located in Anandpura, Maliasan and Navagam villages was originally meant for a township. Important to note here is that Opposition leader from Congress Party Sukhram Rathava, Deputy leader of opposition Shailesh Parmar, and chief whip of opposition in assembly C.J.Chavda held a press conference alleging corruption by the former Chief Minister.

After Congress Party’s allegations Former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani took to twitter as he posted a three page reply claiming that a campaign to malign his image is going on. He further alleged that the land for which allegations are leveled is valued around Rs 75 crores. Forget Rs 500 crore, we have not mishandled even Rs 5 he added in his letter.
