Gujarat: Congress MLA Stages A Sit-in In Front Of The Chief Minister’s Office

| Updated: September 27, 2022 18:58

Frustrated at not being able to get the road works started in his constituency, Congress MLA Jashubhai Patel representing the Bayad constituency decided to stage a sit-in in front of the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office.

Jashubahi Patel was joined by other congress MLAs Ajit Singh Chauhan, Babubhai Vaja, Kalu Singh Dabhi, Dr. Kiritbhai Patel, Sureshbhai Patel, and Rajendra Singh Thakor as a mark of solidarity.

The aggrieved MLA disclosed that all his attempts to start the works have failed despite repeatedly requesting the Chief Minister, the Minister of State for Roads and Buildings Jagdish Panchal, and his predecessor Purnesh Modi.

Jashubhai alleged that even the local administration is acting in a biased manner towards issues raised by the opposition MLAs. He said the local MLA is part of the district-taluka planning committees and is supposed to suggest works to be approved, yet the works are not being started.

The MLA said that every time only fake assurances are given. No files move, no to file gets clearance, he said. In this regard, the leader and deputy leader of opposition in the assembly have personally met with the chief minister and the minister of Roads and Buildings several times to request them that the road works amounting to Rs. 20 crores annually , eligible to each MLA must be sanctioned. The request so far has been ineffective.
