Gujarat Congress leaders met political task force of P Chidambaram, Mukul Wasnik, Jairam Ramesh, KC Venugopal, Ajay Maken, Priyanka Gandhi, Randeep Surjewala, and Sunil Kanugolu on Monday to chalk out a plan for upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections.
The Congress Party has decided to fight the Gujarat assembly elections later this year under collective leadership. After the meeting, Gujarat Congress In-Charge Raghu Sharma told reporters that, “We will use collective leadership in the elections, and the Chief Minister will be appointed after the results. This is a procedure we follow in each poll. “
In addition to highlighting local issues, the Congress will compare the tenure of two parties in the state under the theme “27 years of Congress vs. 27 years of BJP.”
“Today, the task force had a discussion about the poll strategy. Gujarat-related political issues were discussed. They (the BJP) claim to be a two-engine government, but our focus is on 27 years of BJP rule versus our 27 years of governance. We built infrastructure for the poor, middle class, and other groups, and the Congress will fight for tribal, youth, and rights of poor. “Sharma stated.
According to Gujarat Congress chief Jagdish Thakor, they gave a presentation on how the party can “secure 125 plus seats in the upcoming polls” and “discussed how we can gain those seats which we have lost by a narrow margin.” The meeting lasted approximately four hours.
