| Updated: March 12, 2023 12:53

Even as the Central government takes cognisance of the H3N2 A on an aggressive spread in India, on Saturday, Gujarat recorded 51 new Covid cases. The last time the daily numbers breached the 50 count was on November 2 at 57.

The number of active cases reached 181. Of the total, 109 or 60% of the patients are in Ahmedabad.

At Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad, two new patients were admitted on Saturday, including a 67-year-old female who has been put on oxygen and an 18-month-old child. Both are reportedly stable. Overall, the city hospitals have admitted about 10 patients, added civic body sources.

Health officials in Surat apprised of a 20% rise in OPD cases due to viral infections but no increase in hospitalization due to Covid-19.

“Covid-19 patients are not complaining of respiratory problems and do not require hospitalization. We are advising them to isolate at home,” said a health official.

In Rajkot, eight Covid cases were reported in the city last week. No one has been hospitalized so far, briefed municipal health officer Dr Jayesh Vakani. “All are being treated at home,” he said.
