Gujarat Assembly Elections: EC Launches Voter Awareness Campaign

The Election Commission (EC) has launched a voter awareness campaign in the state with the aim of increasing voter turnout in the upcoming elections. The commission is collaborating with government and non-government organizations to ensure that the campaign reaches the remote villages and the most underdeveloped regions in the state. Cooperative societies and other such entities are also invited to contribute to this mission.

Recently, the commission signed some agreements to promote awareness regarding voting. The event was chaired by P Bharathi, Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat. During the event, the commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with N A Ninama, Director of Developing Castes Welfare Department and Prakash Solanki, Director of Social Security Department. This agreement will focus on increasing the participation of voters with disabilities and from nomadic caste communities. Additional Chief Electoral Officer RK Patel and other election officers were present here.

Director Ninama said that the department’s priority will be to ensure that special ramps are set up so that the voting booths can be easily accessed by people with disabilities and using wheelchairs. the booths will also have staff specifically to assist people in need. These people will also be able to go straight ahead to the booth without having to wait in queues.
