The state education department issued a circular instructing district education administrators to make sure that schools don’t discriminate against children of inmates, citing a 2004 Gujarat high court judgement.
According to the high court judgement of July 28, 2004, the department would take harsh action against personnel who are discovered to have treated convicts’ children with bias or prejudice, according to a circular addressed to all DEOs and top department officials.
According to the circular, all SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved category kids who are enrolled in schools shall be treated fairly.
