Gujarat Election: 999 Nomination Forms Out Of 1,362 Are Valid For 1st Phase

November 15 was the final day for the due scrutiny of nomination forms for the initial/first phase of Gujarat assembly elections. Out of 1,362 nominations, 999 nominations are considered to be valid.

First phase of the Gujarat assembly elections, which is of 89 seats, 999 nominations are valid after a detailed scrutiny, notified by state election officials on Wednesday. The Election Commission of India initiated accepting nomination forms on November 5 for the first phase and the final date was November 14.

The second phase of the Gujarat assembly elections will take place on December 5 in 93 seats. As of now, 341 nominations are filed and the process began from November 10. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will also file his nomination today. He is contending from Ghatlodia seat in Ahmedabad, where the voting will take place in the second phase.

The second phase assembly seats comprises of Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod and Vadodara. November 17 is the final date of filing of nomination forms for the second phase and their scrutiny will take place on November 18.

The BJP is seeking for its seventh and straight term in the Gujarat state. BJP is yet another time expecting a handsome victory in this election.
