Gujarat Election: Harshad Ribadiya Resigns From Congress

Ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections, the Congress has suffered a major setback. Congress MLA from Visavadar Harshad Ribadiya has resigned from the party. Harshad Ribadiya resigned from the post of MLA to the Speaker of the Assembly late this evening. Ahead of the elections, Harshad Ribadiya has parted ways with the Congress. Speculation of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party also started this afternoon.  

Earlier, Former Ahmedabad city unit president of the Congress, Chetan Raval, also resigned from the party Saturday, and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday. Chetan Raval was the president (in charge) of the party’s Ahmedabad city unit until six months ago. He told The Indian Express that it was during his tenure as city president that the party’s seats in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) rose from 38 to 49 in the 2015 elections. 

Congress MLA from 87-Visavadar constituency. Harshadbhai Ribadiya has resigned from the post of MLA at the residence of Assembly Speaker Dr. Nimaben Acharya in Gandhinagar this evening. Assembly Speaker Dr Nimaben Acharya has accepted his resignation. Heis the member of Legislative assembly of Gujarat from Visavadar constituency. He won the elections for MLA in 2017 as a candidate of Indian National Congress.
